Dr. Robert E. Zee - Managing Director, Space Flight Laboratory

[Robert E. Zee]

Dr. Zee is currently the managing director of the UTIAS Space Flight Laboratory. His responsibilities include strategic planning, finances and administration. In addition, he provides project guidance and program direction to the UTIAS/SFL staff. Dr. Zee also supervises graduate students with thesis topics in nanosatellite missions and microspace technology development.

Freddy Pranajaya - Manager, Advanced Systems
[Freddy Pranajaya]
Mr. Pranajaya manages a number of programs at the UTIAS Space Flight Laboratory including, the Low Cost Launch service, the Radiation Test program, and the Electric Propulsion program. He also shares the responsibility of Systems Engineering on microsatellite projects at SFL and assists in strategic planning.

Cordell Grant - Manager, CanX Program
[Cordell Grant]

Cordell manages the CanX programs and is the lead mechanical engineer at SFL. He has been part of the lab since 2003 when he began his M.A.Sc. and was responsible for the design of the structural and deployable subsystems for CanX-2 while also contributing to the thermal control subsystem. Prior to coming to the U of T, Cordell received a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a B.Sc. (Conc. Mathematics) from Cape Breton University.

Alexander Beattie - Communications Engineer
Alex Beattie is the SFL communications engineer and is a member of the MOST mission operations team. With a background in Aerospace Engineering, he joined the SFL team in 2001 at a crucial time in the MOST development cycle. He designed major portions of the MOST spacecraft and ground station communication systems. He was also a core member of the assembly, test, and launch operations team.

Mihail Barbu - Senior Electrical Designer
[Mihail Barbu]

Stuart Eagleson - Attitude Control Systems Engineer
[Stuart Eagleson]
Mr. Eagleson oversees SFL's attitude dynamics and control group, and is also involved in conceptual missions for business development. Having joined the staff at the beginning of 2007, he was first educated at the undergraduate level in lightweight structures and design (B.Eng., Carleton University), and then at the graduate level in attitude dynamics and control (M.A.Sc., University of Toronto), where he was responsible for the design, test, and implementation of CanX-2's attitude subsystem.

Daniel Kekez - Electronics and Software Developer

Stephen Mauthe - Propulsion Systems Engineer
[Stephen Mauthe]
Stephen Mauthe is primarily involved with the development of the NANOPS and CNAPS propulsion systems for the CanX series of satellites, as well as taking part in conceptual mission designs for business development. He first started working at SFL in 2004 as a student, and after completing his graduate degree (M.A.Sc.) at the University of Toronto, Stephen became a staff member in early 2007. His undergraduate education is in Aerospace Engineering (B.Eng.) from Ryerson University.

Nathan Orr - Electronics Engineer
[Nathan Orr]

Karan Sarda - Thermal Systems Engineer

Tarun Tuli - Computer Engineer
[Tarun Tuli]
Tarun is responsible for the design of the onboard computers and associated flight software for our satellite missions as SFL's computer engineer. After obtaining a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary, he began his M.A.Sc. with UTIAS/SFL in 2005 where he developed key portions of the flight software and ground station infrastructure for several CanX nanosatellite missions.
